Olympic Archery
Olympic archery, It has been around since the 1900 Paris games, You don't see it often,only in the summer. But here is the interesting thing, change everywhere.
Archery made its way to Hollywood in the movie Robin Hood when he thinks he has lost when his opponent hits the target dead center. Robin draws back and splits his opponents arrow in half.
Now it is different. The bow is not so simple, it is now an Olympic game for both men and women. The bow also changed from a long bow to a recurve bow. A Compound Bow is used in the games also.
The distance between the bow and target is 70 meters away. The highest amount of points you can get for one arrow is a ten and the least is a miss. If an arrow hits on the line the points go higher. The points go through 0 - 10.
Each archer shoots 72 arrows to compete in competition for the team division. In the first three rounds of the individual competition archers shoot 18 arrows in groups of three. were in the quarterfinals, semifinals and medal matches, the archers each shoot 12 arrows. Korean archer Kim Kyung Wook has amazed many people with her skill and is known world wide.
The Olympic bow is a Recurve Bow with many attachments such as a clicker, front and back stabilizers, v-bar and v-bar extender, arrow rest, nocking point, weights, sight and sight window and many more things to come. The reason for so many attachments is that in the olympics you want to be accurate.
The arrows parts are fletching(feathers),field point(tip),knock(end),carbon fiber or aluminum shaft(middle).The feather size is how long or short the archer wants it to be.
